Wedding Photographers

The photos of your special day are very important. They are the memories you will show friends, family, and maybe your future children and grandchildren. So hiring a fantastic photographer is imperative.

Before you book a photographer, make sure you meet with as many as you can. Have a look at their photos closely. Do they do the style of photos you want? Are they all similar? Can they do different kinds of photos? Are they within your budget?

When you meet with a photographer, make sure you are meeting with the person actually taking your photos on the day. This might seem obvious, but many photographers outsource the work to subcontractors, and you never know the quality of a subcontractor!

Tell the photographer who you want to have photos taken with. Is there an old school friend coming to your wedding who you’d love to get a photo with? Maybe a distant relative? Make sure you tell the photographer. Give them a list! That way, you’ll get photos with who you want. The day itself goes so fast and you are so busy that oftentimes you’ll forget to grab photos with people other than immediate family and close friends. And you don’t want to regret your photos.

Tell the photographer where you want to get photographed. Is there a lovely farm near the venue you love? Maybe a gorgeous waterfall that you have great memories at? Tell the photographer all of these places. They’ll be able to schedule your time around it. Again, give them a list! They’ll be able to keep track of where you’re going, and it will take some stress from your shoulders.

Tell the photographer what type of photos you want taken. Is there a certain style you like? Maybe you like all the same kind of photos? Or you want some playful photos? Romantic? One more time for the people in the back, give them a list! Show them photos you like the style of – their photographs, or others you’ve seen. That way, you’ll get the photos you want, and you’ll be happy in the long run.

Don’t let the photographer push you around. If you don’t want to ruin your shoes on the wet sand, tell them! If you’ve decided that you don’t like that photo your photographer just took, get them to retake it! It’s your special day, and you, and your partner are the most important people there.

Photographers are a unique bunch of people. Give them the direction they need to give you what you want and what you paid for. Remember, you are the person who has to live with these photos, so get what you want!
